I am terrified of illness. More so than usual right now. It is that time of year when viruses and nasty little bugs are running rampant through homes and businesses. I always try to avoid getting sick, but with Evan in his Spica cast, I'm making it my life's mission to try to keep us as healthy as possible. I even got the flu shot (my first EVER). I just can't imagine Evan having to deal with immobilization and the flu. Horrible!
Evan's cousin, Lily, recently had her 4th birthday party last Friday. I had to make the tough decision to keep Evan at home. I was concerned others might think I was overreacting, but at the end of the day, I'm the main parent caring for Evan, and I don't want to care for a sick Evan in a Spica cast. Thanks, but no thanks. I felt bad having to decline the invite, but I figured it was better to be safe than sorry.
Let me tell you how relieved I am I made that decision. Poor Lily, her sister and her parents all came down with a nasty stomach bug last night. My first thought when I heard the news was, "Thank GOD Evan and I didn't go to that party!!!" I know we aren't completely out of the woods yet. Steve went to the party, but so far he is feeling fine. Plus, I'm well aware we could always catch the bug somewhere else. But still, it was a load off my mind knowing I didn't have to freak out because Evan and I haven't been around them in a couple of weeks.

Must shelter from germs! |
I feel like I'm in the movie Contagion (HATED that movie... terrified me). So, I guess I'm going to continue on with my crazy ways. I better get more hand sanitizer. I'll pick that up today when Evan and I are out. Ha!
